The Theology Programme at the University of Otago | Mātai Whakapono Karaitiana, Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka, and Selwyn College | Te Maru Pūmanawa are pleased to present the fourth annual Hoani Parata Lecture in honour of Reverend Canon Hoani Parata (1881–1928), the first Māori resident at Te Maru Pūmanawa.

Revd Dr Te Hira Paenga (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Kahungunu) currently serves as Tumuaki o Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae. He completed his PhD at Otago, the first theology PhD thesis to be written in te reo Māori.
