The Bible and Violence

Eager participants, fully engaged on the day!

AELP Gathering | The Bible and Violence

Dr Emily Colgan of Trinity Methodist Theological College led a thought-provoking session on violence in the Bible—its explicit and hidden forms—and what these “texts of terror” reveal about violence in our world today. She was joined by 20 Methodist ministry formation students from Trinity College, adding depth to the discussion.

The Bible is full of violent stories. Some are obvious, others are hidden in plain sight. What can we learn from these difficult texts? And how might they help us grapple with modern-day violence in words, actions, and structures? Emily explored these questions, offering insights into how biblical violence still speaks to us.
