DESCRIPTION:Do you want to connect with others of Christian faith\, to explore how you can take steps to transform unjust structures?  Our friends at Common Grace Aotearoa are planning a National Gathering for just this purpose – so we encourage you to get your tickets here and join in! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin 70+ people\, from 15 – 17 November at Ngatiawa River Monastery to connect\, be discipled and upskill together in areas of social justice & advocacy. The main themes for the gathering include Climate\, Economic and Te Tiriti Justice\, as well as peace in the Holy Land. There’ll be plenty of time for biblical reflection\, prayer\, worship\, kōrero and kai as well. \n\n\n\nFind out more and get your tickets here today! \n\n\n\nWhat is the Common Grace National Gathering?\n\n\n\nIn November 2023\, we hosted our inaugural National Gathering at Ngatiawa River Monastery. With over 70 of us from all ages together throughout the weekend\, we had many opportunities to learn\, engage\, listen\, kōrero\, pray and eat kai together. \n\n\n\nMembers of our growing community contributed as speakers\, leading workshops\, prayer sessions\, childcare and cooking beautiful food! Common Grace Aotearoa is powered by a whole community of people and this weekend was a great way to build connections across our growing movement. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect?\n\n\n\nAt the 2024 National Gathering you can expect everything you’ve grown to love about the kaupapa of Common Grace Aotearoa! We’ll be having some wonderfully well thought through kōrero (conversation) about Climate\, Economic and Te Tiriti Justice\, as well as peace in Palestine. We really recommend coming for the full weekend if you can! \n\n\n\nOur guest and in-house contributors will be providing seminars\, workshops\, bible studies\, panels\, along with prayer and worship\, all have a depth of expertise and rich perspectives which makes this whole gathering so exciting to be putting on. \n\n\n\nThis year we are hoping the gathering can be bigger and better than last year\, and adjusting capacity to hold more people means most attendees will be tenting festival style! SUMMARY:Pakukore: Poverty\, by Design - Addressing the systemic causes of poverty and options for change.
DESCRIPTION:This conference addresses poverty in Aotearoa New Zealand. It analyses the economic\, governmental\, legal and institutional systems that have created poverty\, and which continue to lock too many whānau in its grip.  It asks whether a developed nation should continue to tolerate poverty and inequality. It invites speakers who work at the front lines in the fight against poverty to tell us of the lasting and severe harms it inflicts on people’s lives. The programme will be ordered around the systems that have played\, and continue to play\, key roles in underpinning and maintaining the crisis of poverty: economic management\, the housing\, health\, welfare and education systems\, the courts and corrections\, and short-term political thinking. The conference will also look at where hope lies\, and how we can choose to re-design Aotearoa to eradicate poverty and heal those who suffer its harms. \n\n\n\nSpeakers from research backgrounds and the front lines will provide evidence\, present joined-up thinking and examine where hope lies for eradicating poverty and assisting those who suffer its harms. \n\n\n\nThe conference will include sessions covering: The cost of poverty – Welfare and Inequality – State Violence and Legacies of Poverty – Housing and Homelessness – Health and (In)equality – The outcomes of Education – The Politics of Poverty – Lines of Hope. \n\n\n\nPoster-Poverty-by-Design-WebDownload
