To mark the anniversary\, the World Council of Churches is planning a year of activities at the centre of which will be the Sixth World Conference on Faith and Order. The conference will gather churchleaders and theologians of different traditions around the theme “Where now for visible unity?” with a focus on the issues of faith\, unity\, and mission.Dr Stephen Brown\, editor of The Ecumenical Review\, the quarterly journal of the World Council of Churches\, and communication officer for Faith and Order will present a seminar on the importance of commemorating the Council and its continuing significance for the global church. The course takes place on Wednesday nights 7:00-8:30pm beginning on 23 Oct 2024. This is a History and Religious Studies course designed towards learning more about the complex history and context of the Middle-East and the rise of early Judaism and the emergence of Christianity. More specifically\, this 6-week course examines the religio-cultural matrix spanning Ancient Israel\, Greek & Roman rule\, through the destruction of the Second Temple. This period produced Judaism\, Jesus and the earliest Jesus movement prior to the emergence of a new religion called Christianity.
